“ Amazing fish&chips. Fresh fish, thick-cut chips, and generous salt&vinegar. Nothing to talk poorly about. Although, the takeaway portion does not come with peas, which I think is a bit stingy considering it is not cheap-eat prices and the mushed peas are kind of a staple with f&c. ”
“ Ok, so it’s a bit pricey, but honestly worth every penny. Decided to treat ourselves and go full Monty - cocktails and a bottle of wine so We got there early, was nice and quiet and atmosphere lovely and relaxed. Service always friendly and attentive and food fresh. I recommend going early for candle lit dinner. ”
“ I was craving fish and chips and this spot absolutely delivered! After a busy morning of activities, we came by and I was a bit unsure about bringing my vegetarian husband, but it worked out perfectly; we arrived just as they’d changed the oil, so he was able to enjoy the beer-battered halloumi, and it was incredible (especially with the chilli jam — highly recommend!). I was secretly hoping for oysters, but they had just sold out. At least their classic fish and chips more than satisfied the craving. Everything was fresh, crispy, and full of flavour. If we hadn’t gotten a table, it wouldn’t have been a problem — the location is ideal for grabbing a takeaway and enjoying it by the harbour. The setting adds so much to the experience. We’re big fans of Salt & Malt — we often go to the Chew Valley one after a walk, so this place brings the same great quality and warmth. Definitely worth a visit! ”
“ First of all, the mussels are the best I’ve had in the UK—so fresh and sweet! The bottom of the dish is filled with a creamy sauce, enriched with parsley and olive oil, making it both rich and refreshing. The haddock fish and chips are also quite good, with the haddock being tender and fresh. Everything else was enjoyable as well. And as a fun touch, the oyster shell used as a bill holder was adorable. I’ll definitely be coming back for those mussels! ”
“ Great classic fish and chips. Went for a smaller portion and it was a very decent size and good price. Other food options available as well. Overall very delicious and would definitely come again!! ”
“ Everyone we asked during our trip to Bristol told us to head down to the Cargo section of the city to enjoy the restaurant offerings. We originally were going to go to the poke place just a few doors down, but when we realized there wasn't any inside dining option there we quickly settled on Salt and Malt. Their delicious seafood options drew us in right away and learning they are dog friendly sealed the deal for us. We'll have to come back again for oysters as they had run out by the time we arrived to eat dinner. Not to fear however! The scallops appetizer and anchovies were lovely. The seafood stew I had for my main dish had an especially wonderful rich flavor profile. My husband enjoyed an Asian fusion style cod burger and chips. I also loved the spicy margarita that I tried. Our server, an Irish expat, was especially kind and took a genuine interest in engaging with us. We will definitely visit again when we come back to town! ”
“ I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Dined in on a Friday evening. Lots of people ordering takeaway and the restaurant was reasonably busy but service was good. Had the scallops to start and they were both huge and delicious. Had scampi for main. The portion was excellent, super tasty, chips were proper chip shop chips, and mushy peas were delicious too. Also had 2 cans of a lovely cider. Looking forward to returning. ”
“ It was a chill vibe with good food and an amazing view. A good sunny day and a great plate of Fish and chips is all we need! Also do try their Scallops...highly recommended! ”
